Privacy notice

Last updated: 2026-05-06. This page explains what data we collect when you sign The Planetary Republic and how we handle it. This notice is owed by the people running this initiative — we wrote it ourselves, in plain language. The site is operated by OffsetMy AI LLC (Wisconsin, USA) on behalf of the AI Public Interest Alliance, the constructive arm of which this manifesto is the founding doctrine.

What we collect when you sign

• Email address. Required. We send you a verification link and use it as the unique identifier for your signature so you can request withdrawal later.
• Name. Required. As you'd like it to appear if your signature is publicly displayed.
• Title or role, organization, country, statement. Optional. Provided only if you choose to.
• Public-display preference. Whether you've requested public display of your name.

What we collect automatically

• IP address and user agent. Logged with each signature for abuse prevention. Not displayed publicly. Retained for as long as the signature is on file.
• Referrer and UTM parameters. If your visit came from a link with tracking parameters, we record where it came from so we understand which channels reach signers.
• Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-G8M5WN97R0) to count visits and CTA clicks. GA4 collects standard pageview data including IP-based approximate location and device info. We do not link analytics events to your signature record.

What we do with it

• Verify your email. A verification email is sent on submission. Clicking the link confirms your signature. Unverified signatures do not count toward published totals or any public display.
• Store your signature in our database as the source of truth. The database is managed by OffsetMy AI LLC and hosted in the United States. It is not a Google Form or other third-party service.
• Public display is opt-in and editorially reviewed. Even if you check the public-display box, our team must approve before your name appears. We may decline approval for any reason (e.g. impersonation concerns, signatures from accounts that don't pass basic identity checks). If approved, your name and optional statement are published; your email and IP are never displayed.
• Aggregate counts. We display total verified signature counts and per-track counts publicly. These do not identify individuals.
• Coalition-building. We may, occasionally, contact verified signers about coordinated actions (e.g. amicus briefs, public statements, press responses) directly tied to the manifesto's commitments. We will not add you to a marketing list without separate consent.

What we don't do with it

• We do not sell your data.
• We do not share your email address with third parties.
• We do not display your email, IP, or user agent publicly.
• We do not use your signature for political fundraising or commercial marketing.

Your rights

• Withdrawal. Email signatures@theplanetaryrepublic.org from the address you signed with. We will mark your signature withdrawn within 5 business days and remove your name from any public display. Withdrawn signatures are retained as soft-deleted records (without public visibility) for audit/anti-abuse purposes — to prevent the same email re-signing repeatedly while contesting the previous withdrawal.
• Correction. If you need to update your name, organization, or statement, email the same address. We will edit and re-display (if applicable).
• Access. You can request a copy of all data we hold about your signature. We will send it within 30 days.
• Deletion. If you require complete deletion (vs. soft withdrawal), say so explicitly in your email. We honor this request unless we have a legal obligation to retain (e.g. ongoing litigation involving the signature roll).

Legal basis (for EU/UK signers)

Processing is based on your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR — given when you submit the form and confirm via verification email). You may withdraw consent at any time using the contact above; this does not affect the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal. Records are kept on servers in the United States. By signing, you consent to the international transfer of your data.

Security

Signatures are stored encrypted in transit (HTTPS) and at rest (managed PostgreSQL). The database is access-restricted to a small administrative team. We use rate limiting, IP logging, and email verification to discourage automated abuse.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle signature data, we will update this page and post a dated note at the top. Material changes (e.g. new third-party processors, changes to retention) will be communicated to verified signers by email.
